The 2025 prize will be the fifth Maldon Portrait Prize presented by the Maldon Artist Network.
All artists who have lived or are living and/or working in Australia are eligible to enter.
Maldon has a deep and rich tradition of supporting, presenting and celebrating the Visual Arts. Maldon Artist Network has previously collaborated with the contemporary Edge Galleries and now with established Cascade Art Gallery, Maldon’s Fine Art Treasure.
The Maldon Portrait Prize is generously sponsored by the Hilary Merkus Recordati Foundation, (HMR Foundation) an arts foundation established in Italy in 2021.
Maldon Artist Network is an inclusive organisation and encourages cultural diversity. We welcome all people of indigenous and non-indigenous backgrounds to enter the Maldon Portrait Prize.
Key Dates
Entries Open – Tuesday 1 October 2024.
Entries Close – Saturday 1 March 2025 Midnight.
Finalists notified – Monday 31 March 2025.
Delivery of finalist works – Sunday 1 June 2025 or Monday 2 June 2025 10.00 am – 5.00 pm.
(Work sent by courier must arrive prior to the final delivery time of 5.00 pm on the 2 June 2025)
*No works will be accepted after 5.00 pm Monday 2 June 2025.Exhibition Opening – Saturday 7 June 2.00 pm – 5.00 pm.
Cascade Art Gallery Exhibition dates – Thursday 5 June to Sunday 29 June 2025.
Collection of Works – Monday 30 June 2025.
Online Exhibition – Monday 30 June – Sunday 31 August 2025.
Award of Prizes
Finalist Prize - Saturday 7 June 2025.
Emerging Artist Prize - Saturday 7 June 2025.
People’s Choice Online Prize – Wednesday 10 September 2025.

2. Emerging Artist Prize $2,000, for artist 16 – 24 years of age or for artist over 25 years of age practising independently for 5 – 10 years.
